This month, the Oregon Conference says goodbye to two department coordinators. Terrie Griebel and Laura Pascoe have been part-time coordinators in their respective departments for over 4 years, but each recently announced their plans to transition.

Terrie served part-time as our women’s and singles ministry coordinator. In that role, she led teams in coordinating an annual singles’ retreat and women’s retreat. She also coordinated the annual Oregon Christian Women's Retreat which equipped and encouraged local women’s ministries leaders to serve their churches even more effectively. In addition, Terrie was instrumental in creating memorable moments in honor of veterans at camp meeting. She retires from this position, looking forward to the additional time she’ll have with her kids and grandkids.

Laura was our part-time coordinator for Adventist Community Services, Disaster Response, Refugee Ministries and Health Ministries. As coordinator, Laura’s work was impactful in developing relationships with community organizations, especially in the area of disaster response. As an active member (and president) of Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), Laura was instrumental in helping to inspire Adventists to participate with our communities in responding to natural disasters such as the Eagle Creek Fire in the Columbia Gorge two years ago. Her energy and warmth will be missed by those who have worked with her. But she won’t be going far. Laura has accepted a full-time role as Executive Director at Portland Adventist Community Services (PACS) where she will continue to make tangible impacts on our greater community.  

While we will miss the contributions of these godly women to the ministry of the Oregon Conference, we celebrate the calling that God has given them as they step into their next chapters.
