On Friday, October 11, a team of Adventist Community Service (ACS) volunteers from the North Pacific Union Conference (NPUC) arrived in Augusta, Georgia to set up a donation warehouse for communities in need.
 
Pulling off a major operation like this comes with a plethora of details and organization and Georgia-Cumberland Conference has been working with local city authorities to make sure those in need receive help. Augusta is assisting the ACS team by providing the warehouse space, forklifts, pallet jacks, garbage bin, and other necessary materials and supplies.
 
There are challenges working with the many logistics of an operation of this magnitude, however. When they arrived, volunteers were excited to find out there were already two semi-truck trailers with donated goods at the warehouse location, but they found they didn’t have the appropriate ramp required for the forklift to offload the pallets of goods.
 
Another volunteer group, Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves communities before, during, and after disasters stepped up to help.
 
Ten Team Rubicon members arrived at the warehouse to assist in unloading the two 53’ trailers. Their combined efforts made quick work of the 24 pallets of water and other donated goods.
 
After the job was complete, the volunteers took time to find out more about each other and the mission of their organization. It turns out that just like our team from the NPUC, they came together from different states to team up for a common purpose – to serve those in need. A huge thank you to our new friends – Team Rubicon for saving the day!
