Since it first began operating under the Adventist banner in 1973, Adventist Health Tillamook has provided healing and hope to coastal Oregon communities. Now, 50 years later, the Tillamook community plans to gather to celebrate its many years of history and stories.
On Saturday, November 11th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Tillamook Seventh-day Adventist Church is inviting the community and anyone who has been involved with Adventist Health to join them for a special service. Pastor Alex Bryan, who currently serves as senior vice president and chief mission officer for Adventist Health, will be the featured speaker. Joyce Newmyer, chief people officer for the Adventist Health System and president of the Oregon Network of Adventist Health, will provide special music. A complimentary lunch will be provided for all attendees.
Eric Swanson, who currently serves as president of Adventist Health Tillamook, will also be presenting a special feature during the service, tracing back his family’s personal history with the healthcare system. “Eric’s mother was one of the originals,” says Tim Mayne, pastor of the Tillamook Seventh-day Adventist Church. “She was the only nurse anesthetist. As a single mom she would often bring her kids with her if there was an emergency at the hospital. So Eric would come as a little kid when his mom had to be there in the middle of the night, and now he’s the president of the hospital. I think it’s neat that he went from being a kid sleeping in the foyer to being president there.” Pastor Tim shared his hopes for showcasing how the Seventh-day Adventist faith itself has influenced Adventist Health Tillamook’s approach to healthcare and community service throughout its history.
Since it first began operations under the Adventist umbrella in 1973, Adventist Health Tillamook has expanded to provide more than 100,000 patient visits each year and provided more than $9 million in community aid through free and discounted services last year.
The Tillamook Adventist Church is located at 2610 1st Street in Tillamook, Ore. No registration is necessary to attend this event, and all are welcome!
