Big Lake Youth Camp Closed for 2020 Season

Big Lake Youth Camp Closed for 2020 Season

The vision of Big Lake Youth Camp is that people will experience a love so compelling that they will spend the rest of their lives pursuing its source. Everything we do at camp is an attempt to live in and exemplify this love. So it is with such heavy hearts that we are canceling summer camp operations for 2020. Prioritizing the safety of our community and abiding by federal and state mandates inform that decision.

On April 23, the Oregon Conference Executive Committee met and approved a recommendation from the Big Lake Youth Camp Advisory Committee to suspend all 2020 summer camp activities. The recommendation came as a response to several mandates from the federal government as well as our state.

We recognize how essential camp is for the thousands of kids, parents, staff, and PCT hikers that call Big Lake their place of sanctuary and rejuvenation each summer. This decision was one that we have waited as long as possible to make, hoping that something would change the equation of safety.

This summer we will are be hoping to complete some much-needed construction on our Lodge. This is an urgent situation, and to accomplish it during a year with no camp would be absolutely amazing.

We want you to know how much we love you, our community. You make Big Lake the beautiful experience that it is. We can’t wait to see you again next year.

Please note: all reservation holders will be receiving an email with information regarding your account.
