Executive Committee Votes Personnel Changes for Oregon Conference Office

At its meeting on October 21, the Oregon Conference Executive Committee took the following personnel-related actions:

Communication Department
Krissy Barber was voted as the new associate director for communication. In August, Gary McLain resigned as communication director to work with his wife in their web-consulting business.

For nearly 15 years, Krissy has worked in the department as graphic design intern, then administrative assistant. Now as associate director, Krissy will work closely with Assistant to the President for Multimedia Communication Jonathan Russell, to lead the Communication Department in supporting conference departments and churches. Krissy’s training in graphic design and experience in church communication make her an ideal fit to continue the mission of the communication team. In accepting the role Krissy said, “I’m excited to take on this new role as part of the communication team. As always, my goal is for our team to ever better serve our members, churches, and ministries throughout the region."

Welcome to your new role, Krissy!

Risk Management Department
Earlier this year, Simona Cardwell announced that she will be resigning as risk management director to move to Idaho Conference with her husband (Pastor Dale Cardwell) as they accept the call to pastor two churches in eastern Oregon.

Simona has been highly appreciated by conference staff and pastors for the grace with which she has dealt with complex risk and insurance issues. She will end her employment with Oregon Conference at the end of 2021.

At the October 21 executive committee meeting, LuDell Parrett was voted as the new Risk Management Department director. She will begin in the role in the next few weeks, before Simona leaves, so as to facilitate a smooth handoff of responsibilities. LuDell is a long-time leader in the East Salem Adventist Church and a member of the Oregon Conference Executive Committee.

“I am confident The Spirit is calling me to this risk management ministry opportunity,” LuDell wrote. “I'm excited to work with the conference team where who Jesus is, and what He offers each of us, is the driving force that compels us to share Him to our world. I'm very excited to partner with many believers to help ensure the safety and success of all our church’s, school's and the conference's endeavors.”

Welcome to the team, LuDell!
