Oregon Prayer Conference Encourages Prayers of Gratitude

Over the weekend of March 21-23, around a hundred people enjoyed a three-day journey of prayer, reflection, and community revival at this year’s Oregon Prayer Conference. Held annually at Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center in Rockaway Beach, the event began Friday evening as everyone checked in to their cabins, gathered for dinner, and made their way over to listen to Pastor Richard Davidson’s first message, which was titled, “A Sanctuary Prayer for the Sabbath.”

Leading this year’s presentations was Dr. Richard Davidson. Dr. Davidson has served as a professor at the Andrews University Theological Seminary since 1979, and is currently the Senior Research Professor of Old Testament Interpretation. He has also served as the President of the Adventist Theological Society, spent many years as the chair of the Old Testament Department at Andrews University, and has received numerous awards for academic excellence.

“Dr. Richard Davidson led the group in Christ-centered, sanctuary-focused reflections on a central doctrine for Seventh-day Adventists,” shared Oregon Conference President Dr. John McVay, who also attended and shared at the event. “He taught us how to pray in a sanctuary-inspired pattern that encourages deep gratitude to God for the gospel. I was blessed.”

Of the event itself, Dr. McVay said, “The content of the prayer conference was inspiring, applying the truths of the gospel to our hearts and lives. The fellowship with other attendees was valuable as well. I learned afresh how rewarding it is to show up at places where people pray.”

Next year’s prayer conference is already in the planning stages. Watch for more details later this year.
