Outreach Ministries Director Tom L. Evans Accepts New Role in Tennessee

Dr. Tom L. Evans, Oregon Conference Outreach Ministries director, has accepted an invitation to serve as CEO of Child Impact International (CII), headquartered in Ooltewah, Tenn. He will conclude his responsibilities in Oregon on August 1.

Since coming to Oregon in 2019, Dr. Evans has led an innovative team in Outreach Ministries to develop the MaxLife Events platform for online evangelism and to inspire evangelistic activity across our conference. "We have greatly appreciated and been blessed by the exceptional visionary leadership of Tom Evans in our Oregon Conference Outreach Ministries,” remarked President Dan Linrud. “We are disappointed that the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic affected many of the outreach plans that were made. But, with the innovative leadership of Tom and the team, new modalities of outreach have been developed that will add to the toolbox helping churches further meaningful community engagement and outreach that leads to invitation-based evangelistic ministries and events. Tom will be missed and we wish him and his family God's abundant blessings in their journey.”

In his new role, Tom will lead CII in serving marginalized and disadvantaged children in six countries: India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Zambia. Currently, CII and its donors supports over 3500 students attending Adventist mission schools, a blind school, a deaf school, and an orphanage. CII also intervenes by rescuing abandoned babies and with children at high risk for human trafficking. You can learn more by visiting www.childimpact.org or www.operationchildrescue.org

Tom will begin his new responsibilities on August 2nd. Sons, Lukas (age 17) and Andre (age 15) will be attending Georgia-Cumberland Academy this fall. Tom and his wife, Mara, are also excited to welcome two adopted boys from an orphanage in Latvia as their children this summer, Daniils (age 13) and Andris (age 12). Please keep the Evans’ family in prayer as they make this transition.

Oregon Conference continues to pursue big plans for Outreach Ministries in 2021-2022, including a conference-wide evangelistic series with John Bradshaw in early 2022. We look forward to God's leading in effectively 'Sharing Jesus with others' to help as many as possible experience a relationship with Jesus in this life and eternity.
