On Sunday, January 7th, the joint Nominating and Executive Committees approved the nomination of Ron Jacaban to serve as the Vice President for Education in the Oregon Conference. He joins the Oregon Conference from his most recent role in the Washington Conference as Associate Superintendent for Education. Ron is a familiar face in the Oregon Conference, having served seven years at the Tillamook Adventist School as teacher and principal from 2003-2010, before leading as principal at Lake City Academy, Puget Sound Adventist Academy, and Kirkland Adventist School. Ron, a teacher at heart and an administrator by training, believes that Adventist schools should educate the whole student––spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically, and that our schools should be safe places for students to learn and grow.
“In our significant search for a permanent new Oregon Conference VP for Education, God’s timing and leading is perfect,” says Oregon Conference President Dan Linrud. “I’m thrilled that Ron Jacaban has accepted the election of the Nominating and Executive Committees to serve as VP for Education. It is a great joy to welcome Ron and d’Ann Jacaban to our team. I look forward to the great things God will do as we go forward in mission together!”
After a prayerful search, God has brought the right leader at the right time to the Oregon Conference’s education ministry, where teachers and staff have been hard at work serving our students. “Moving back to the Oregon Conference is a little bit of a dream for us,” said Ron as he was introduced at this year’s Together as One conference, “I am so excited to get to work with my colleagues, my friends, and all my new friends! I look forward to visiting your schools and hearing each of your stories.”
We are excited for the future of education in this conference! Please join us in welcoming and praying for Ron and his family as he joins the Oregon Conference work immediately.
